Human Rights Council

Council Proceedings Summary

Debate flowed relatively smoothly with two sub-topics being discussed, rights to abortion and domestic violence. In total, 3 resolutions were written. One from Saudi Arabia that was against giving women more rights, and two were supportive of women’s rights. These were the main 3 blocs that delegates had grouped themselves into. Eventually, the one passed was the more detailed one submitted by China. This resolution was favourable for a greater push at gender equality in Less Developed Countries, and this meant that council took a favourable stance on women’s rights and this resolution was direction to direct more funding and effort in the bid to achieve greater gender equality in Less Developed Countries.
