United Nations Security Council
Council Proceedings Summary
Council sessions in the Security Council were vibrant and lively. Delegates all participated as they shared their countries’ views on various issue. In the beginning, the council explored the necessity of ground troops in the first place, and if aerial forces would be a better solution to the crisis in Middle East. Moreover, the council discovered implications of deploying ground troops and several solutions to these problems. Furthermore, delegates considered Naval means to deploy ground troops, seeing how Syria is not a landlocked country.
The delegates also considered the different groups fighting in the Middle East, especially in Syria and Iraq. Different delegates had different motives in wanting to intervene in the Middle East, be it to support Bashar Al-Assad’s Syrian government or to support rebel groups like the Free Syrian Army and the Kurdish Rojava.
Though there were different blocs formed during the debate, the different sides came to a consensus and managed to agree on a single resolution.
